Lakewood Township offers something exciting for every kind of visitor or local resident, from thrill-seeking climbers at ClimbZone to local parks with walking trails and picnic facilities. There is something fun for everyone here!

Sports fans will delight in attending Lakewood BlueClaws games, while history enthusiasts should visit the Strand Center for the Arts.

1. Allaire State Park

Allaire State Park provides the ideal blend of outdoor fun and educational experiences. Home to Allaire Village – an historic 19th-century iron making town from which visitors can experience rustic life from bygone eras through demonstrations, hands on activities in 13 historic houses, blacksmith shop and church – this park provides outdoor fun as well as educational experiences.

Allaire State Park is an idyllic haven for nature enthusiasts, offering miles of hiking and mountain biking trails as well as stunning riverfront scenery spanning Manasquan River and an abundant ecosystem that boasts more than 200 species of plants. Camp sites, fishing, canoeing, hiking, bird watching, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking are among other activities offered at Allaire State Park.

Allaire State Park boasts New Jersey’s first official Disc Golf course, providing challenging play for beginners and pros alike. Situated near Lake Carasaljo in Allaire State Park’s Lake Carasaljo area, it is open daily from dawn until dusk. To reach it head towards Hospital Road near the main parking lot in Allaire State Park; follow signs directing to “Disc Golf”. You will soon arrive!

2. Lake Carasaljo

Lake Carasaljo Park boasts 176 acres, making it an incredibly popular tourist spot. Visitors find this park ideal for strolling leisurely around its waters while baseball, soccer and softball fields also occupy space here.

Carasaljo Lake was named in the 1800’s after Caroline, Sarah and Josephine Brick – daughters of Iron Berger works owner. To form the name Carasaljo the first few letters from each daughter were combined into “Carasaljo”. Covering an area of 176 acres parkland it has 4.5 miles perimeter perimeter perimeter with towering oaks and pines dotting its shorelines bringing peace and quiet only interrupted when a large fish hits!

Residents have been asking for years for a bridge to cross Lake Winnebago. Recently, the township constructed one using material used in floating docks so as to minimize upkeep costs and maintenance requirements; it should open shortly.

3. Lakewood BlueClaws

Lakewood BlueClaws offer families an inexpensive yet enjoyable baseball outing experience with kids at Lakewood Stadium in Lakewood, NJ. As an affiliate of Philadelphia Phillies in South Atlantic League, this South Atlantic League affiliate features picnic areas and playground areas. On Friday evenings there is fireworks after every game while Sunday hosts “Kids Character Sunday”, when popular children’s characters roam the stadium interacting with fans.

FirstEnergy Park boasts a 360-degree concourse and grass berms in left and right field that slope towards the fences, along with five lifeguard chairs available on a first come, first serve basis and six firepits situated near each foul pole. Pizza and soft-serve ice cream can be purchased on the main concourse while, to honor its parent club, Philly cheesesteaks can also be found for sale at concession stands in right field.

The BlueClaws also host themed nights throughout the summer, such as Military Appreciation Night on July 7, Irish Heritage Night on July 9, and Almost U2 in the Sand Bar on August 11. Don’t miss their annual Memorial Day Weekend celebration, where pre-game catch with Spider-Man awaits before post-game Father-Child catch is hosted post-game before culminating with spectacular fireworks on 4th of July games!

4. Six Flags Great Adventure

Lakewood Township offers something for every taste – roller coasters, sports viewing and live entertainment alike! There are also over two dozen parks and recreation fields such as softball and soccer fields, exercise/bike trails as well as exercise/walk trails available within its township boundaries.

Six Flags Great Adventure offers thrill-seekers an adrenaline-infused day of thrilling rides, from the tallest pendulum in the world to a revolutionary stand up coaster ride.

Families will delight in classic rides like the carousel and Giant Wheel Ferris wheel that are tailored specifically for children of their size.

DC Comics fans will delight in discovering that this park now provides rides to bring Superman and Batman characters to life, such as The Joker?s free-falling coaster and Green Lantern?s fast standing-up coaster. Also be sure to experience the new Barnstormer!

5. The Strand Center for the Arts

Lakewood Township provides something for everyone. From team sports to beachside relaxation, Lakewood provides something to please every taste. Furthermore, for those pursuing further studies or careers Lakewood offers plenty of opportunities.

The Strand Center Theatre, established in 1924 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was purchased by North Country Cultural Center for the Arts (NCCCA) with the intent to restore it back to its former grandeur over 10 years. As a result, we now enjoy an enjoyable theatrical experience that blends historic charm with contemporary convenience.

Since opening its doors, THE STRAND has provided cultural arts entertainment options to its local community through various entertainment options. Nationally acclaimed acts like Milton Berle, Loudon Wainwright and Don McLean have performed at this iconic venue; other activities for senior citizens, theatre camps for children and teens as well as its exclusive Backstage Pass series are available too.
